Yes. Our tutors have various experience with different examining bodies, but RGT, Trinity and Rock School are favourites. There are grades in acoustic, classical, rock, electric or jazz guitar. Even if you do not want to take the exam, playing graded pieces can be a great way of measuring where you are at. Some of them are very well known with some fun backing tracks to play with. We do not specifically encourage pupils to take exams in music – but grades offer a practical goal and something to aim for whilst having guitar lessons. The RGT syllabus is very well balanced – a strong emphasis on creativity and playing by ear, but also some great well-known songs to perform too.
